Thank you for considering volunteering your time and talents with Anna Sudha Community Kitchens. Our volunteers are part of our family and our strength. They help us make our mission of making healthy meals accessible to all possible. They play a critical role in serving our community, and we depend on them. We have many different volunteer opportunities that can fit your busy schedule and interests. Shifts are generally two to three hours.
FOOD PREP, CLEAN UP & PACKAGING
To prepare meals daily, we spend much time preparing ingredients and packing meals. As a volunteer, you can join us in food preparation – peeling and chopping vegetables or cleaning up – washing pots and pans and cleaning the workspace or packing and labeling meals. Volunteers must be age 14 or older, and all youth groups must be accompanied by an adult chaperone (one for every 5-10 students)
We welcome youth volunteers to Anna Sudha Community Kitchens, and there are many ways for young people to gain service hours for school or to get the whole family involved. Volunteers of all ages can join their adult family members in delivering meals to our client’s homes, making this an ideal volunteer opportunity for parents with young children. Volunteers must be 14 to work in our kitchen preparing and packaging meals.
We rely on the assistance of delivery volunteers who use their vehicles to bring meals to our clients across the region. Drivers need to be over the age of 18 with a valid driver’s license. We deliver to housebound seniors, shelters, and our five distribution locations in Sterling, Ashburn, Herndon, South Riding, and Vienna.
HOST A FUNDRAISER
As a nonprofit organization, charity events are vital to our sustainability. Events are the best way to raise awareness and let people know what Anna Sudha Community Kitchens are about, what we have achieved so far, and what we envision in the future. We are always looking for funds, and there is no better way to boost donations than running a fundraiser. It’s all about teamwork. No matter how small, efforts trickle down to our bigger pool of achievements. So, host a fundraiser if you have been meaning to motivate people and get involved in our cause. This can include bake sales, silent auctions, half marathons, and neighborhood cookouts; please contact us if you are interested in conducting a fundraiser.
We cook in large quantities and prefer volunteers with prior cooking experience. Volunteers use gas and induction stoves and must be age 18 or older.
We raise funds by participating in and selling meals at community events. Volunteers fill various roles, from selling meals to accounting for sales when providing event support. They ensure brand awareness and are ambassadors for Anna Sudha Community Kitchens.
VOLUNTEERING AS A GROUP
We rely on volunteer groups to help prepare and package our meals in the kitchen and deliver meals. We would love to host your school, corporate, social, or faith-based group at Anna Sudha Community Kitchen for a great day of team building while serving our community. We will provide a complete orientation upon arrival to ensure a successful day for your group.
Anna Sudha Dulles Store generates funding for many programs we support, including shelters, children’s programs, and other community events for underprivileged people.
The store is open Mondays through Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays through Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Volunteers can assist one day or make a regular commitment depending on their schedule. The store is located at
Volunteers will be ASCK ambassadors and must be able to communicate our mission. They will help customers by offering good customer service and answering questions about prepacked meals and processing cash and credit card transactions. They will help maintain the store’s physical appearance, including cleaning up spills or broken items, dusting and cleaning shelves, and decorating for holidays or other special events. Accept in-kind donations, give receipts, and collect information from people donating products.
