Thank you for considering volunteering your time and talents with Anna Sudha Community Kitchens. Our volunteers are part of our family and our strength. By volunteering, you help us make our mission of making healthy meals accessible to all possible. We have many different volunteer opportunities that can fit your busy schedule and interests. Shifts are generally two to three hours at a time.
Anna Sudha also supports Capstone and Eagle projects. You can find more information on some Anna Sudha Capstone and Eagle Projects here.

To prepare meals daily, we spend a huge amount of time preparing ingredients and packing meals. As a volunteer, you can join us in food preparation – peeling and chopping vegetables or cleaning up – washing pots and pans and cleaning the workspace and packing and labeling meals. Volunteers must be age 14 or older, and all youth groups must be accompanied by an adult chaperone (one for every 7 students).
We cook in large quantities and prefer volunteers with prior cooking experience. Volunteers use gas and induction stoves and must be age 18 or older.
We rely on the assistance of delivery volunteers who use their vehicles to bring meals to our patrons across the region. Drivers need to be over the age of 18 with a valid driver’s license. We deliver to housebound seniors, shelters, and our five distribution locations in Sterling, Ashburn, Herndon, South Riding, and Vienna.
We raise funds by participating in and selling meals at community events. Volunteers fill various roles, from selling meals to accounting for sales and providing event support. They ensure brand awareness and act as ambassadors for Anna Sudha Community Kitchens.
We welcome youth volunteers to Anna Sudha Community Kitchens, and there are many ways for young people to gain service hours for school or to get the whole family involved. Volunteers of all ages can join their adult family members in delivering meals to our patrons’ homes, making this an ideal volunteer opportunity for parents with young children. Volunteers must be at least 14 years to work in our kitchen preparing and packaging meals.
We rely on volunteer groups to help prepare and package our meals in the kitchen and deliver meals. We would love to host your school, corporate, social, or faith-based group at Anna Sudha Community Kitchen for a great day of team building while serving our community. We will provide a complete orientation upon arrival to ensure a successful day for your group.
Anna Sudha Community Kitchen generates funding for many programs we support, including shelters, youth programs, and other community events for the underprivileged. We even raise funds to support other charitable organizations in India and abroad.
The kitchen is open Monday through Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 8 p.m. (On Sundays, until 6p.m.) and food pick-up is from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Volunteers can assist on any day they are available or make a regular commitment depending on their schedule. The store is located at 21100 Dulles Town Cir, Sterling.
You as Volunteers will be ASCK ambassadors and must be able to communicate our mission. You will assist patrons in a courteous and kind manner, answering questions about prepacked meals or processing cash and credit card transactions. You will help maintain the store’s physical appearance, including cleaning up spills or broken items, dusting and cleaning shelves, and decorating for holidays or other special events. At times, you will accept in-kind donations, issue receipts, and document the donations and also collect donor information.
Your volunteer hours absolutely count for PVSA Award! More information about PVSA can be found here
